Hi everyone,
I’m excited to share a major update in our push for pedestrian safety near Davis Elementary. Commissioner Birrell and Cobb DOT Director Drew confirmed that approval of the contract to upgrade the Jamerson Road/Davis Elementary crosswalk is on the agenda for the Cobb County Board of Commissioners’ meeting TODAY!
If the contract is approved (est 150K in improvements), the County will move quickly to give notice for the work to proceed once the agreements are signed. This means we are officially moving from advocacy into implementation—a huge step forward for our community.
Seeing the zoning teams out in the field over the past few weeks has been encouraging, but this latest update marks real momentum. It’s a testament to the power of collective voices: in just days after the tragic accident earlier this summer, we gathered hundreds of signatures and elevated the urgency of this issue. Now, that advocacy is translating into concrete action.
We’ll continue to track progress closely and share updates as soon as construction timelines are confirmed. In the meantime, please continue to spread the word and stay engaged—our unified presence ensures accountability and reinforces how much this matters to families, students, and staff who walk these routes daily.
Thank you all for your support and persistence. We are turning grief into action and action into change.
