Install Noise Monitoring on the A24 from Mickleham through to Capel

Install Noise Monitoring on the A24 from Mickleham through to Capel
The Issue
The tranquility of our community is under threat. The stretch of the A24 road from Mickleham
through to Capel, particularly beyond the Beare Green roundabout, has become a notorious hotspot for noise pollution. Motorbike groups gather from Mickleham, especially on sunny weekends, accelerating aggressively and frequently exceeding safe and legal noise limits. The lack of adequate noise monitoring and law enforcement on this portion of the road compromises not only our peace but also our safety.
Excessive noise from speeding motorbikes is not just an annoyance; it poses significant health risks to residents, especially the vulnerable, including children and the elderly. Persistent high noise levels can lead to stress, sleep disturbances, and other health issues. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), noise pollution is a growing public health threat, with evidence linking it to adverse cardiovascular and psychological effects.
Our call for action is urgent and clear: we need noise monitoring systems installed on the A24 between Holmwood and Capel. Implementing these systems will enable accurate measurement of noise levels, ensuring that appropriate steps can be taken to enforce existing regulations and restore our community's peace. Additionally, these systems can serve as a deterrent to those who habitually violate noise limits, promoting a more responsible use of this public road.
We appeal to local authorities and relevant transport agencies to prioritise this issue and allocate necessary resources for the swift installation of noise monitoring technology. The health and well being of our community and the Weald School depend on taking immediate action.
Join us in protecting our community's peace. Sign this petition to support the installation of noise monitoring systems on the A24 and help bring back the tranquility we all deserve.
