Hi! We are the girls of Guam Girl Scout Troop 15361. As a part of our Get Moving Journey, we wanted to "Take Action" on an issue that is important to us!

Safety is important, so we need more sidewalks on Guam. We have seen so many people walk alongside busy roads where there is no sidewalk for pedestrians. Sometimes people need to walk to the store. Sometimes it's tourists walking to or from the airport. A lack of safe sidewalks puts pedestrians and drivers in danger!

Installing sidewalks has many benefits. One benefit is that people will save money on gas if they can walk to places safely. More sidewalks promotes a more healthy lifestyle. People will walk and run for recreation on newly installed sidewalks. Sidewalks can also increase community, since people will get to see their neighbors more while they are walking outside. 

If we have more sidewalks installed, there will be less air pollution and noise pollution from the cars since more people will start walking instead of using their cars for short trips. Safe sidewalks also mean more kids can walk to school. They will get exercise and enjoy fun time with friends. Families will save money on gas. 

Having less cars on the road will create less road damage needing less road repairs. This means we can extend the life of our roads and the government will save money!
