As a nurse who often works late shifts, visiting Mizner Bark Park in Boca Raton, Florida, has become increasingly difficult during the winter months. From November to March, Eastern Standard Time brings shorter daylight hours, and the park closes early. This leaves me, and many others like me, unable to enjoy the park with our beloved pets. Nurses, doctors, emergency responders, and other shift workers often have limited time after work to unwind and attend to personal activities like walking their dogs.

Mizner Bark Park is a vital space for our community in Boca Raton. It fosters social interaction, provides necessary exercise for our dogs, and contributes significantly to our well-being. However, without adequate lighting, the park becomes inaccessible after dark, denying many locals the opportunity to visit the park after work. This situation demands an urgent solution.

I propose the installation of solar-powered lighting at Mizner Bark Park. Solar lights are not only environmentally friendly but also cost-effective in the long run. They would allow the park to remain open for longer hours, accommodating shift workers and others who can't make it during the day. Furthermore, solar lighting would improve safety at the park, ensuring it is a welcoming and secure environment for everyone, even after sunset.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, over 15 million Americans work evening, night, rotating, or other irregular shifts. This represents a significant portion of our community that deserves access to public facilities during their available hours.
