Install Golf Barrier Netting along West Windsor Avenue on Encanto Golf Course

The Issue

As a resident of Margarita Place, Phoenix, AZ, I often allow our children to play in the front yard. However, doing so has become increasingly stressful due to the fear that they will be hit by a stray golf ball. Our vehicles have also been damaged by golf balls on several occasions. This is not just an isolated issue - many families in our community share this concern. Residents have also been hit by golf balls, had broken windows, windshields, solar panels, sunroofs, etc.

The solution we propose is simple yet effective: installing golf barrier netting along West Windsor Avenue between 15th and 16th Avenues. This measure would significantly reduce the risk of accidents and damage caused by stray golf balls.

According to a study published in The Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness, over 40% of amateur golfers hit errant shots that could potentially cause injury or property damage (2018). These incidents have also been found to be very dangerous and even potentially fatal, especially those involving the head. In addition, a study by Golf Digest showed that each year an estimated 40,000 golfers seek emergency treatment due to injuries caused by errant golf balls and flying club heads. These statistics underline the urgency for implementing safety measures like netting in areas adjacent to golf courses.

We believe that everyone has the right to feel safe in their own homes and neighborhoods. By signing this petition, you are supporting not only our family but all residents who live near these streets. Let's make Margarita Place safer for everyone - please sign this petition today!
