Our dear kitten Bumble tragically lost her life on 10th June, a consequence of the poor visibility and speeding vehicles on the main road of Marwin close/Stapleton Road, Martock. This heartbreak has prompted a need for change. In honor of Bumble and to prevent further tragedies, we are urgently calling for the installation of double yellow lines along this road, particularly the stretch opposite the snooker club.

The road of Marwin Close/ Stapleton Road currently lacks crucial safety measures. With vehicles parked haphazardly, visibility is severely compromised, making it a hazard for both pedestrians and drivers. This situation not only endangers our beloved pets but also poses a significant risk to children, cyclists, and daily commuters. Double yellow lines would prevent parking in these critical areas, enhancing sightlines and encouraging responsible driving.

Statistics show that areas with restricted parking tend to have fewer accidents. According to the UK Department for Transport, clear roadways can significantly reduce the likelihood of accidents by improving line-of-sight and reducing sudden stops or swerving. Implementing these lines will provide a clear and unobstructed space for safe travel.

We are urging Somerset highways authorities to take immediate action. Prioritize the safety and wellbeing of Martock's residents and ensure that no other family has to endure a loss like ours. Let’s make Marwin Close safer for everyone.
