The Issue

The Parent Teacher Association of P.S. 361Q has recently been advised of the pending review and proposed removal of Stop signs adjacent to our school at the intersection of 57th Street and 39th Avenue. We have also noticed that the crosswalks on 39th Ave have been scrubbed clean and removed. We believe that these crosswalks are absolutely necessary for our children and community members to cross the intersection safely. We, the undersigned, are concerned members of the Woodside community and strongly urge the Department of Transportation to immediately sanction the placement and retention of All-Way Stop signs at this intersection, including the redrawing of the crosswalks on 39th Ave.   There are currently over 450 students, which include P.S. 11Q students and their families, relying on the intersection at 57th Street and 39th Avenue as safe passage to and from school. We insist on the highest level of safety for them and for all in our community.
