Living on Canterbury Road, I see firsthand the reckless speeding that occurs daily, especially by motorcyclists. The two stretches of 40mph zones on either side of the traffic lights at the Minster Road junction are particularly problematic. The excessive speed jeopardizes the safety of residents and other road users alike. I therefore call on the relevant authorities to install average speed cameras on these stretches and red light cameras at the traffic lights. The use of such cameras has been proven to be effective in managing speed and improving road safety. The RAC Foundation reports that on 25 sections of road where average speed cameras were implemented, fatal and serious crash incidents fell by an average of 36% (RAC Foundation, 2018). It's time to prioritize safety and peace on Canterbury Road. Please sign this petition and demand necessary road safety measures.
