Install a traffic light at intersection of 522 and Ohio River road

The Issue

I drive through the intersection of 522 and Ohio River Road daily, where it's situated in front of the Kroger Gas Station and Adams Coffee Shop. It's become a dangerous spot due to drivers not following the rules, often causing wrecks at a rate that's simply unacceptable. I've personally witnessed several accidents here, and it's a matter of time before it leads to a tragic incident if we don't act promptly.

This hazard isn’t just affecting me, but everyone who travels through the area—families, commuters, and patrons of local businesses. The intersection’s current setup lacks the necessary structure to manage the heavy traffic flow, which results in chaotic and unsafe situations during peak hours. As the community in this region grows, this problem will only escalate unless preventative measures are taken.

Installing a traffic light at this intersection would dramatically improve safety by regulating the flow of vehicles and reducing the number of accidents. According to studies from the Institute of Transportation Engineers, intersections with traffic signals can reduce severe crashes by 45%. Moreover, it provides a visual cue and hierarchy that makes it easier for drivers to navigate intersections safely.

We are urging the county officials to prioritize this safety measure. The cost of installation is far outweighed by the benefits of reduced accidents, protection of lives, and improved traffic flows.

Please join me in advocating for our community’s safety by signing this petition. Together, we can make sure that our roads are safer for everyone.
