Since moving to the intersection of Dub Wright Blvd and Jennings Dr in Abilene, TX, I have personally witnessed numerous accidents. It's alarming and deeply concerning to see that the city council has not yet taken any measures to improve the safety of this intersection. As a resident, it feels like our concerns are not being heard, and the safety of our community is being overlooked.

The intersection is particularly perilous due to its layout and the volume of traffic that passes through daily. According to the Federal Highway Administration, traffic signals can reduce the number of angle collisions at intersections by 25 to 50 percent. Installing a traffic light could significantly lower the risk of accidents, ensuring the safety of drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.

The City of Abilene needs to prioritize the wellbeing of its residents. By implementing a traffic signal at this intersection, the city would not only be addressing a critical safety issue but also demonstrating its commitment to proactive community care. Our children's safety, the security of our loved ones, and the well-being of every community member who travels through this intersection must be prioritized.

My wife and son was recently involved in an accident Thursday afternoon of 8 April 2026. To which I am a lucky husband and father that no one involved were suffered injury or death.

I urge the Abilene City Council to listen to the concerns of its citizens and install a much-needed traffic light at Dub Wright Blvd and Jennings Dr. Every day that passes without action is another day that the community is at risk. We have the power to drive change and prevent future accidents.
