I am writing this petition because my family, friends, and fellow citizens drive through the intersection of NC Hwy 89 and Graceland Court in Mount Airy, NC. (Also Referred to as Brintles Truck Stop, Circle K, flying J) It's a dangerous spot that has seen numerous close calls. The lack of a stoplight at this intersection puts all who pass through it at risk every day.

According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), intersections without traffic signals are more than twice as likely to experience fatal crashes than those with signals. This statistic is not just a number; it represents real people whose lives are put in danger when they navigate these risky intersections.

The installation of a stoplight would significantly reduce the risk for drivers passing through this intersection daily. It would provide an organized flow of traffic and ensure safer passage for all road users - drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.
