The Issue

As residents of Henwick, we are concerned about the safety of children and adults who walk, run, and bike outside our neighborhood.

Because District 266 does not provide bus service within 2.5 miles of school, many of our children walk or ride along the roadside and must cross during peak school traffic hours at 45th Street without a sidewalk or designated crosswalk.

This is an ongoing concern raised by parents at our HOA meetings, and we believe our community deserves a safer way to cross.

We are asking the City of Maize to install sidewalks or, at minimum, a safe, clearly marked crosswalk at 45th Street and Plantation Road.

Our children and neighbors should not have to risk their safety simply to walk or bike to school or around their own neighborhood.

Please sign this petition and ask the City of Maize to take action.
