I live just three houses away from the intersection of Ready Section Road and Hwy 53. I hear every accident the moment it happens. Having advocated for a traffic light here for over 20 years, the urgency to act has never been as pressing as it is now. Just today, another awful accident took place, marking it the third crash in just a single month. This intersection has tragically been a constant danger, not only to the residents of this community but to everyone who travels through it.

The intersection is a death trap. During rush hour, crossing Ready Section Road or turning onto Hwy 53 is a harrowing experience. Motorists can spend up to 10 minutes idling at the stop sign, finally resorting to risky maneuvers to traverse the intersection. The deep ditches lining the area leave no room for error.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, intersections are among the most dangerous places for drivers, accounting for roughly 40% of all collisions. Installing traffic control measures like red lights has been shown to significantly reduce the risk of accidents.

This isn't just a call for infrastructure change, but a plea for safety and human life. By implementing a traffic light, we could immediately reduce the risk of accidents, preserve safety, and make our roads safer.
