In Clayton, many of us are frequently reminded of the precarious nature of our beloved pedestrian pathway.

Every day, my two daughters, along with many friends and family, utilize this elevated path to make their way to school, activities, and to spend time outdoors in our lovely community. It offers a scenic journey but has a risky feature that cannot be overlooked—a steep drop-off without any protective fencing.

This path, a primary route for families and children heading to and from the local elementary school, hovers above a well-trafficked vehicle thoroughfare. Without adequate protection, a slight misstep or a moment of distraction could result in devastating consequences. With many local residents having raised this concern with the City of Clayton over the years, and motivated by the desire to prevent a tragic accident, we find ourselves issuing this petition.
