Install a perimeter gate & car park walkway at Bassetlaw Hospital
The Issue
I've heard from many residents who share a common concern: the lack of direct access from the Larwood area and doctors' surgery to the Outpatient's Department at Bassetlaw Hospital. This issue hits close to home, as these residents have expressed their struggles in navigating the lengthy and cumbersome route up Blyth Road. There's a much shorter path across the bottom car park that could provide a more convenient and safer travel option for patients, but it remains inaccessible without a necessary infrastructure improvement.
Imagine having health conditions or needing to visit the hospital frequently; every additional step becomes a challenge. Yet, the current layout forces pedestrians to walk an unnecessary distance. It's not just an inconvenience; it's a genuine hardship for those who already have enough to deal with regarding their health.
The proposed installation of a perimeter gate and a painted walkway can significantly enhance the accessibility to Bassetlaw Hospital. Such an improvement would not only be about convenience but also foster a more patient-friendly environment. This direct route will save time, effort, and will undoubtedly be less taxing on the many who need regular hospital services.
There's ample evidence that improving infrastructure can bolster healthcare outcomes by reducing unnecessary stress and fatigue on patients, particularly those dealing with chronic illnesses or mobility issues. By making this minor yet impactful change, the community stands to benefit significantly.
Now more than ever, we need meaningful changes that reflect the needs of our local community. Please join me in calling for Bassetlaw District Council and the hospital administration to take action. Your support through signing this petition can help make direct access an achievable goal, improving the daily lives of those who rely on hospital services the most.
