My family has been directly impacted by the dangerous situation at the intersection across from Best Pizza in North Attleboro. A couple of my own family members have been struck by vehicles in this area, and it is alarming how frequently accidents occur due to the lack of a clearly marked pedestrian crosswalk.

North Attleboro is a bustling community with many people traveling on foot to enjoy popular local spots like Best Pizza. Unfortunately, without adequate safety measures, pedestrians are at serious risk. The absence of a designated crosswalk makes it hazardous for pedestrians, including children and the elderly, to cross this busy street safely.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrian fatalities account for a significant portion of road traffic deaths. In 2020, there were over 6,500 pedestrian fatalities in the United States alone, highlighting the need for improved pedestrian infrastructure to prevent such tragedies.

Installing a clearly marked pedestrian crosswalk would be a simple yet effective solution to enhance safety in our community. It would not only help prevent accidents but also encourage more people to walk, contributing to fewer emissions and a healthier town atmosphere.
