The Issue

This is a petition to install a new pedestrian crossing at the Ridge Grove Bus stop on Meanwood Road, adjacent to Rollette Café.

Crossing at this spot has always been tricky but it is especially difficult for the HOOF team- a group of Adults with Learning Disabilities who attend Meanwood Valley Urban Farm throughout the week.

Please watch our Petition Video! where the HOOF team explain why this crossing is so important.

It is particularly difficult to cross here for the HOOF team because many members have issues with their mobility, whilst others struggle with their spatial awareness and have poor peripheral vision.

Having a pedestrian crossing installed at this spot is essential to making our site accessible to all, as the walk to and from the nearest crossing, at Boothroyd Drive, would take over 10 minutes meaning it is too far out of the way for most.

It would also help manage the speed of traffic. Contributing to an overall safer neighborhood as well as connecting the two footpaths on either side of the road. Increasing accessibility to the Bandstand allotments, Woodhouse Ridge and Meanwood Urban Farm.

Many local groups, including the Meanwood Road Project, have expressed support for this idea, as have local residents.

Please sign this petition to make Meanwood safer and more accessible for our vulnerable adults, visitors to the farm, and members of the wider community.
