Install a Pedestrian Crossing on Booth street, Handsworth

Install a Pedestrian Crossing on Booth street, Handsworth
The Issue
Please Help us make a safer road for the Senior citizens, Parents and children of Booth Street, Holyhead school & the surrounding community
I am one, among the many in Handsworth, Birmingham, who believe that a pedestrian crossing on Booth Street is not a luxury but a necessity.
Every day, we are witnessing senior citizens, parents, children, and indeed all residents facing the difficulty of crossing this perilous street. Trucks, lorries, and speeding cars pose a considerable risk; the absence of a dedicated pedestrian crossing further exacerbates this peril.
Citizens including Parents and children are being forced to dart between traffic on their way to and from the shops, Mosques, churches, Schools, Booth street park and the Metro tram station.
On many occasions i have had run the gauntlet across the road to get to the other side with my son as there is no safe way to cross the road near the park or Mosque.
In 2022, 385 pedestrians were killed in Great Britain, whilst 5,901 were reported to be seriously injured and 13,041 slightly injured.
Therefore, we call on our local government and transportation authorities to seriously consider installing a pedestrian crossing on Booth Street. This is more than a personal plea; this is a collective call to save lives, prevent accidents, and prioritise the safety of our community.
Please sign this petition to support our cause for safety and care; urge our authorities to make Booth Street safer for everyone by installing a pedestrian crossing.
