I am sharing an update about the A39 Mabe / Tremough Safe Crossing petition as we inch towards our '5000' goal - we have just over 500 signatures to go, and remain confident we can achieve that number within the next 24-48 hours with continual sharing and encouragement within your groups and networks. This comes with early reports of another RTA today in the same location (I understand no-one has been seriously injured).
There is unquestionable support in our local community for the improved safety of this road and crossing, as well as an appreciation of the urgency of the issue. This comes from our parish councillors, county councillor, universities, residents of the local community, members of Ekaterina's family, supporters of the campaign behind the scenes (who help to keep me afloat, currently!) and those of us who make use of the road and crossing.
Plans are in motion to progress discussions for a resolution, and I am keeping in close contact as the petition winds to a close to support the transition to the next phase with the relevant parties.
In the meantime, if you can please continue to share the petition far and wide to achieve our final 5000 milestone, this will help to bring as much leverage to the campaign as possible, and strengthen our position as a community.
We keep those who have suffered loss or harm on this road (and all roads) in our hearts and minds, and we should continue to do everything in our shared power to make a change.
