Thank you to everyone who took the time to raise concerns about pedestrian safety along May Avenue near NW 42nd Street. The City understands the importance of providing safe and accessible ways for residents to cross our roadways, and we recognize the concerns raised regarding this location and the need for a safer pedestrian crossing.


Traffic-related requests such as mid-block crosswalks are reviewed through the City’s Traffic and Transportation Commission. The Commission considers requests based on factors such as pedestrian and vehicle traffic, roadway conditions, safety considerations and other applicable engineering standards.


Residents and community groups who would like to request a traffic-related improvement can submit an application for consideration by the Traffic and Transportation Commission. We appreciate the community bringing this concern forward and encourage residents to participate in the process. While not every request can be implemented immediately, these concerns are heard and evaluated as the City works to improve transportation safety throughout our community.
