On April 1, 2025, I was riding my electric tricycle home from work along Kings Ranch Road in Gold Canyon, AZ, from HWY 60 to E Golden Rim. Due to the absence of a designated bike lane, I was forced to ride on the sidewalk, which is illegal since cyclists must adhere to the same rules as cars. My decision to avoid riding on the road was based on the potential dangers posed by drivers who may be texting or under the influence.

Tragically, a truck pulled up too far onto the sidewalk outside a local bar and restaurant, striking me and knocking me over. This incident not only totaled my bike but also left me without recourse since Lerner and Rowe couldn't assist due to the absence of an official police report.

This unfortunate event underscores the urgent need for a dedicated bike lane on Kings Ranch Road, a passage frequented by many cyclists and pedestrians who daily face similar hazards. A designated bike lane is essential for ensuring safety and providing a legal, viable path for cyclists.

It is imperative that we urge the local authorities, including the Pinal County Department of Transportation, to prioritize the installation of a bike lane along this dangerous stretch of roadway.
