The Islamic Republic of Iran has restricted and blocked internet access so the people of Iran cannot communicate with the outside world. They have heavily filtered Instagram and WhatsApp within the country, which are the two of the most commonly used communication and social media platforms in Iran. This is a tactic commonly used by the Supreme Leader of Iran “Khamenei” to further oppress people, suppress information, and to kill innocent Men, Women, and Children. However, while the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns the use of Instagram, Khamenei has a live account under the user name of “khamenei_ir” and his team actively makes posts, shares stories while spreading his ideologies to promote terrorism. His account has 4.9 Million followers and it is used to spread Islamic Republic propaganda while the people of Iran are jailed and arrested for voicing their opinions on Instagram. We are calling on Instagram to take immediate action and close down Khamenei’s account. Khamenei is an Islamic Extremist/Dictator responsible for the deaths of thousands of Innocent people, why should he have an Instagram account to promote his ideologies? 

As the world unites on behalf of voiceless Iranians who are fighting for their freedom, this will be an important step towards victory. Instagram had previously removed the account of Donald J Trump for his speeches during his Presidency, Khamenei is a far more dangerous person in power and causes a greater threat to our world. Even Andrew Tate was blocked from Instagram for his opinions on Women, Khamenei has violated Women’s rights for over 3 decades but Instagram has taken no action. It is time to send a clear message to the Supreme Leader of Iran that the world stands against him and his regime.
