Insist on Safe and Equitable Schools for All Inwood, WV Students

The Issue

There is an urgent need to address the inadequacies currently plaguing Inwood, West Virginia's school system. All students deserve to learn in a safe and inclusive environment regardless of their background or circumstances. However, that is not the case for many students in the town of Inwood. Incidents of discrimination, harassment, and unequally distributed resources continue to compromise the learning environment. According to the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights, there were 2.3 million suspensions and expulsions in the U.S. in 2016, with a disproportionally high rate for the students of color (NAACP, 2017). These patterns are reflected in Inwood's schools and must be addressed urgently. This petition calls for the local government and school board officials to take decisive action in reviewing the existing regulations, introducing comprehensive anti-discrimination policies, and ensuring adequate resources are equitably distributed to all schools. Now is the time to create an educational environment that guarantees the safety, inclusion, and fair treatment of all students in Inwood, WV. Please sign this petition to voice your support for these much-needed changes.
