Insist on High Conduct Standards: Remove Jamilah Nasheed from Missouri Parole Board

Insist on High Conduct Standards: Remove Jamilah Nasheed from Missouri Parole Board
The Issue
Like many, I believe deeply that our Parole Board should be an institution of trust, fairness, and high ethical standards. However, my confidence and that of countless others in our community have been shaken by the recent incident where Board member #JamilahNasheed was arrested for #DUI. This incident, occurring in #Missouri, raises serious concerns about Ms. Nasheed's ability to conduct her duties with the integrity expected and required of a public servant. Not only do Parole Board members have a fiduciary duty to the public to make decisions that prioritize #PublicSafety, but their conduct in their personal lives should also reflect these values. When incidents such as this occur, the public's faith in such institutions is eroded, fueling concerns about #GovernmentCorruption and a lack of #Accountability.
In similar situations, prompt actions were taken. According to national data from Prison Legal News, officials embroiled in such controversies were either suspended or removed in approximately 68% of cases to maintain #PublicTrust (Prison Legal News, 2018). Yet, in this case, we are left in uncertainty, prompting questions about the state of #Justice in our community.
I urge Governor Mike Kehoe and the Missouri Senate to take swift and decisive action - suspend and remove Jamilah Nasheed from the Parole Board. This action will not only restore #PublicFaith in the integrity of our institutions but also reinforce the high conduct standards expected of those in such important public positions.
Join me in this call for #Accountability, #Transparency, and restoration of #PublicTrust. Sign this petition now to demand action from our #LocalPolitics and to hold our public servants to the highest ethical standards. This is not just a #StLouis issue; this is a matter of national concern, and we need to ensure that our institutions are upholding the standards we expect.
