In Ireland Inland Fisheries Ireland are the controlling body of Irish Fisheries. I am here today to discuss the main factor in influencing me to create this petition. Everyday I hear a sad and disgusting case about poaching going on in my local community. It is sickening to hear and is near impossible to report as personal protection is a factor. 

Poachers in Ireland get away with a lot of poaching. Salmon poachers were paid a grant to stop them from poaching salmon but a lot of them are back at salmon poaching again. Why? Because these poachers do not care about the fish itself. These poachers are looking for a bit of money in their pockets. 

By every right an angler can take a fish home from the table under proper regulations. Poaching is not taking fish under proper regulations. Poaching is netting of rivers and the ocean of all the living fish that come in contact with these nets. Salmon, trout, bass to name a few are affected by this rampant poaching that us happening today, it is happening as you speak. 

One more controversial issue associated with Inland Fisheries Ireland is the culling of the natural fish species: Pike. The belief is that the pike are predating on the wild trout. In my own views and knowledge of the natural ecosystem, predation is natural in a living habitat. By all means, it's the pikes means of survival. 

We anglers need to stand up to the IFI and demand proper control of poaching and to rethink the pike culling program including the co-operation with the anglers of Ireland.
