Our story starts with a dream. A young woman, passionate about wrestling, has hopes of one day becoming a part of the wrestling team at Iowa State University. Her dream, however, is currently unattainable due to the lack of a women's wrestling program at the institution. This isn't just her story; it reflects the predicament of many other young aspirants who are unable to pursue their wrestling aspirations at Iowa State University.

Growing popularity and the need for more diverse sports opportunities necessitate the inclusion of women's wrestling in institutions, now more than ever. In fact, over 16,000 females participate in high-school wrestling across the United States according to The National Federation of State High School Associations (2018-19). Despite this, many universities, like Iowa State, are yet to initiate a program for them.

By establishing a women's wrestling program, Iowa State University would not only be fostering the dreams and ambitions of countless aspiring athletes, it would also contribute to the growing recognition and acceptance of women's wrestling nationwide. Women deserve equal opportunities in sports, and Iowa State can lead the way by bringing in this change.
