Growing up, I have always admired the United States and all that it stood for - freedom, justice, and democracy. However, I now struggle to reconcile that image with the reality under President Donald Trump's leadership. The divisive rhetoric, the numerous instances of discrimination, and the diplomatic missteps are transforming this country into a place I can hardly recognize. The time for change is now. I believe impeachment is the necessary course of action. According to Constitution Center, "impeachment processes have only been initiated three times in American history" but our current situation justifies a new addition to that small number. The incitement of insurrection at the U.S Capitol on January 6, 2021, as documented by The New York Times, demonstrates the severe threat that his trajectory poses to our civil liberties and democratic values. Furthermore, the U.S. Government Accountability Office found Trump violated the law when he withheld security assistance to Ukraine, a grim reminder of the consistent disregard for the rules. I urge you, stand with me in this fight to uphold justice and the democratic values we hold dear. It's high time we call for the impeachment of President Donald Trump. Please sign this petition.
