The Issue

I, like many in our community, live with an ever-present fear that overshadows our daily life in Savoy. The B.E.S.S facility looms ominously near our schools, its presence continuously reminding us of the potential catastrophe we are exposed to. The safety of our children, our neighbors, and our loved ones is under repeated threat from this facility.

As such, forming a 391 Commission is not just a policy desire - it is an urgent necessity for the community.

Our concerns stem from accurate and verifiable facts. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has frequently identified hazardous conditions associated with similar facilities. In a recent report, they underlined that these facilities pose a significant threat to human health and the environment. Usually stationed close to populated regions, they are ticking time bombs waiting to unleash unimaginable disaster (source: EPA, 2021 Hazardous Facilities Report).

Therefore, we call upon our local government and the applicable authorities to form a 391 Commission to address the B.E.S.S facility concerns. Only through such a comprehensive approach can we ensure the safety of our community, our children, and ourselves. Please stand with us in this endeavor and help protect what we hold dear.

Sign this petition today to initiate the formation of a 391 Commission. Your support may bring about the change we so desperately need.
