I have always been passionate about skateboarding. It has become such an integral part of my life that I can feel an attraction towards it, like a magnet pulling you towards it's core. However, I always find myself having to go out of my own local community to places like Edgewater or Paco Sanchez for a decent skatepark. It's an inconvenience many of us face, and it doesn't have to be this way.

We are appealing for the addition of a skatepark as our local park is being built. Skateparks offer more than just recreation. They provide a safe, designated environment for those practicing this adventurous sport, which can have vast benefits on both mental and physical health. According to a study by Urban Institute, they are shown to increase the social interactions among community members and discourage anti-social behavior in communities.

So let's rally for not just a local park, but a local skatepark!
