Initiate a Girls' Shooting Team at Anglo-Chinese Independent

Initiate a Girls' Shooting Team at Anglo-Chinese Independent
The Issue
I am an aspiring shooter with unusual ambition – to become an Olympic competitor representing my country. I believe deeply in the power and discipline of this sport, and I'm not alone. There is a group of young, passionate girls just like me at Anglo-Chinese Independent and in Singapore who share this dream.
Currently, there are no shooting teams for girls at this school. This is a barrier not just for me, but for every girl like me who aspires to pursue this unique sport at an academic level, and possibly beyond.
Moreover, having a girls' shooting team at school provides opportunities for students to develop confidence, discipline, and focus, while creating a constructive and supportive community.
Interestingly, based on a study by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, female participation in target shooting in the U.S grew by 60% between 2001 and 2013 (National Shooting Sports Foundation, 2015). This trend signifies that there is a strong and growing interest among women in this sport, so why not in our schools? After all, Singapore has a strong line of male and female shooters who have represented the country like Lee Wung Yew and Jasmine Ser.
Through this petition, we urge the decision-makers at Anglo-Chinese Independent to consider the formation of a girls' shooting team. It's time to offer talented, passionate students the chance to pursue their dreams while enriching the school community and fostering an empowering environment. Join our cause and sign this petition today to voice your support for a girls' shooting team at Anglo-Chinese Independent.
