WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND TOMORROW’S TJCA BOARD MEETING
Why is it important to attend tomorrow’s Board Meeting even though Joe Maimone has a job in Raleigh? Because the wrongdoing that led to his departure has not been repaired. This includes Bylaw violations, policy violations, Open Meeting violations, and others.
Ray Maxwell made it clear that the Board’s vision for the school is different from Joe Maimone’s Vision. This includes the push for Dual Curriculum which results in a 2 year degree at graduation. Keep in mind that while that is a good thing for some students, it is not better than having AP classes under your belt for those wanting to get into a competitive college. Plus, we are supposed to offer what other schools do not. Both counties have these programs in place.
Sadly, Jeff Ziegler, the face of Classical Education for TJCA, resigned as Academic Dean effective 10/31.
Regarding the 2020 Vision plan, the link disappeared from the main page of the website. Ray Maxwell detailed to staff that the proposed 2020 Vision plan (architecture plan, site evaluation, etc), which has already cost $800,000, is being considered for revision. This delay is unlikely to garner trust of the donors. Joe Maimone had 63 HIGH LEVEL donors lined up for the 2020 Vision and an unknown number of those have withdrawn their pledge.
Despite many parents communicating with the Board, asking them to correct the various Bylaw violations, the Board has refused to act. The Board has no official means in place to handle Board grievances. Several parents have filed grievances to the State Charter School office. This will take months and is unlikely to result in the Board members in question coming off the Board because they State office has no “teeth” in their oversight.
Lastly, the SENIORS DESERVE TO HAVE JOE MAIMONE HAND THEM THEIR DIPLOMA! Encourage the Board to ask the senior class what they want and follow it.
