Why is this effort continuing even though Joe Maimone is working in Raleigh? Because the same dysfunction of the TJCA Board that led to his ouster is continuing. This leads to a direction of the school away from the founding vision of Joe Maimone for the school, a founding vision that involves rigorous educational standards, teachers who promote classical education, and state and national ranking!
Without Joe Maimone at the school, the 2020 Vision is dead in the water according to many in the community who planned on donating. Donors do not and will not support a school whose Board acts so against the good of the school, is not predictable, and has not been following Bylaws and open meeting law instruction by Director of the Office of Charter Schools at DPI.
When parents don’t know where or when Board Committees are or even know who is on the Committees, there is definitely an air of secrecy that is put forth! Why won’t the Board post all committee meeting minutes for the last 2 years? They are public and should not require any redaction.
