KEN APPLING DETAILS HOW JOE MAIMONE WAS HUMILIATED BY THE BOARD!

We all know the culture is changing.  We see it every day on the news and at work. Ken Appling honed in on one aspect of our culture that has dwindled: loyalty.  Loyalty and honor.

Parent after parent has voiced their dissatisfaction with this Board and yet they are convinced still that it is “just a few confused parents.” Currently 1,113 supporters have signed this petition noting the same dissatisfaction with the Board’s actions leading up to the departure of Joe Maimone.  And yet, the Board continues to dig its heels in even deeper!

Why is that?  People who have conducted themselves honorably do not hide things.

Did you know that Dave Machado, Director of Office of Charter Schools in Raleigh, provides the following Board training material to our Board leadership?  “BOARD MEETINGS AND COMMITTEE MEETINGS must be open to the public and provide appropriate notice in advance of the meeting date, time, and location...” See the photo.

So why does Board Chair Ray Maxwell refuse to disclose WHEN committee meetings are, WHERE they are located following the 7 days notice required? Why aren’t ALL the committee minutes posted?

Could it be that all the “work” of the Board is done in the committee meetings, out of the eye or ear of the public?  That means the public should be able to attend the Executive Committee meetings, the Personnel Committee meetings, the Legal Affairs Committee, etc.

If parents had known that this violation of trust was going on and attended these committee meetings, none of this secretive crap would have happened!

THAT IS RIGHT! ANYONE CAN ATTEND EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETINGS!

If the Board has nothing to hide, they should immediately post ALL COMMITTEE MINUTES WITHOUT REDACTION FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS. (Names only can be scratched out in the Personnel Committee Minutes according to Dave Machado).

I encourage everyone to email Ray Maxwell at rmaxwell@board.tjca.org and ask him WHY HE WILL NOT BE OPEN WITH THIS INFORMATION AS IS REQUIRED?
