Parco/zoo di Cavriglia (AR). Due anni di lotte, campagne e faticoso lavoro fisico a carico dei volontari e della loro associazione, la Leal, che a titolo completamente gratuito hanno lavorato per raggiungere la chiusura del parco/zoo e, impegnandosi anche economicamente per il mantenimento futuro di gran parte di loro, hanno fatto in modo che gli animali trovassero una sistemazione dignitosa.

Il parco/zoo di Cavriglia è chiuso per sempre.

Non è stato semplice, ma per la prima volta in Italia uno zoo è stato chiuso e gli animali, prima detenuti in gabbie o piccoli recinti, hanno avuto in regalo una vita degna di essere vissuta grazie alla caparbietà e determinazione di chi ha agito con l' unico fine del perseguimento del loro benessere: tutti sono stati trasferiti in oasi o santuari dove, finalmente, sono rispettati come Esseri senzienti in grado di provare emozioni, sofferenza e gioia.

Tutti tranne il bisonte americano Arturo, l'ultimo rimasto nel parco/zoo di Cavriglia.

Forse, il suo futuro non sarà altrettanto bello.

Leal si è impegnata a cercare una sistemazione anche per Arturo, per il quale non esistono, in Italia, centri di recupero che possano ospitarlo, e ha trovato una struttura in Germania disposta ad accoglierlo, assumendosi le spese di trasferimento e mantenimento.

Nel rifugio Erdlingshof (www.erdlingshof.de) Arturo potrebbe vivere libero, rispettato e circondato da suoi simili, anche loro provenienti da situazioni difficili. Nessuno potrebbe più lucrare sulla sua prigionia: Arturo sarebbe considerato importante in quanto individuo, non strumentalizzato per fini economici.

Invece, il Sindaco di Cavriglia, il signor Leonardo Degl'Innocenti O Sanni, ha deciso diversamente: ha preso accordi con il Safari Park di Ravenna e Arturo, con tutta probabilità, si troverà a passare da uno zoo ad un altro, come succede spesso.

La struttura in cui Arturo dovrebbe essere trasferito, situata a due passi dalla statale adriatica e dal parco di Mirabilandia, è uno zoo safari: auto cariche di turisti percorrono i sentieri interni entrando nello spazio vitale degli animali, considerati solo un’attrazione utile a vendere biglietti.

Chiediamo al Sindaco di Cavriglia, il signor Leonardo Degl'Innocenti O Sanni, di tornare sui propri passi e permettere ad Arturo di vivere in un santuario, così come è stato permesso agli altri animali dello zoo di proprietà del Comune.

Gli chiediamo di mettersi una mano sul cuore e di ragionare per il bene di Arturo.

Nessun interesse può essere più importante del benessere di un animale che gli è stato affidato in quanto Sindaco, e sua è la responsabilità di garantirgli la migliore delle vite possibili.

Gli zoo sono strutture che non hanno motivo di esistere.

Recenti studi mostrano quanto per gli animali siano stressanti il forzato contatto con l'uomo, la costrizione in spazi circoscritti e una quotidianità che di naturale ha ben poco; lo zoochosis è una sindrome che colpisce quasi tutti gli animali in cattività, nessun animale libero ne soffre.

Anche il progetto dello zoo come risorsa per la conservazione ha fallito, perché non si può pensare di salvare una specie dall'estinzione fuori dal proprio habitat.

Non c’è nulla di educativo o didattico in uno zoo, dove il contatto con gli animali è falsato dall'ambiente artificiale in cui si trovano. Una vita in libertà non può essere riprodotta artificialmente.

Sig. Leonardo Degl'Innocenti O Sanni, Sindaco di Cavriglia, permetta ad Arturo di essere accolto nel santuario che lo sta aspettando a braccia aperte e di non finire i suoi giorni in uno zoo!

Park / zoo in Cavriglia (AREZZO) - ITALY . Two years of struggles, campaigns and hard physical work done by volunteers and their association, LEAL, that totally free have worked to achieve the closure of park/zoo, have sured that the animals would find a good relocation and are also committed to the future maintenance of a great part of these animals.

Cavriglia's Park/zoo is now closed forever.

It has been not easy, but for the first time in Italy a zoo has been closed and the animals, first held in cages or small enclosures,  had the chance for a dignified life thanks to  selflessness and determination of those that acted with  only one pursuit:  well-being of animals. Today the animals have been transferred to oases or sanctuaries where, finally, are respected as sentient beings capable of feeling emotions, suffering and joy.

All of them have been rescued and relocated but not the last one left in Cavriglia's Park/Zoo: the American bison Arturo.

Probably, his future will not be equally nice.

LEAL has pledged to find a right accommodation for Arturo, accomodation that sadly doesn't exist in Italy for this kind of animal, but a facility has been found in Germany willing to accept him and shouldering the expenses in their own for transfer and maintenance of Arturo.

In sanctuary Erdlingshof (www.erdlingshof.de) Arturo could live free, respected and surrounded by his fellows also coming from difficult situations. No one could make money on his captivity again: Arturo would be considered important as an individual, not to be used for economic purposes.

Instead, Cavriglia's Mayor, Mr. Leonardo Degl'Innocenti O Sanni, decided otherwise: he made arrangements with a zoo, Safari Park in Ravenna ( Italy) so Arturo, in all probability, will move from one zoo to another, as often it  happens .

The structure in which Arturo should be transferred by Cavriglia's Mayor, located just steps from Adriatic Highway and amusement park  Mirabilandia, it's a zoo/safari park: cars full of tourists travelling in inner paths and entering in animal's living areas, here animals are considered only useful attraction to sell tickets.

We ask to Mr. Leonardo Degl'Innocenti O Sanni, Cavriglia's Mayor to come back on his steps and allow Arturo to live in a sanctuary, as it has been allowed to other animals in Cavriglia's Park/zoo.

We ask him to put a hand on his heart and to think to what is good for Arturo.

No interest may be more important than the welfare of an animal that has been entrusted to him as Mayor, and it's HIS responsibility to guarante to Arturo the best possible life.

Zoos are structures that have no reason to exist.

Recent studies show how stressful for animals is to be  forced in contact with humans, constricted in confined spaces and to an innatural daily routine; zoochosis is a syndrome affecting almost all animals in captivity, no free animal suffers of it.

Even zoo's idea as a resource for conservation has failed, because you can't expect to save a species from extinction outside its habitat.

There is nothing educational or teaching in a zoo, where contact with animals is distorted by the artificial environment in which they live. A life in freedom can't be reproduced artificially.

Mr Leonardo Degl'Innocenti O Sanni, Mayor of Cavriglia,  allow Arturo to be welcomed into the sanctuary that is waiting for him with open arms and don't let him to end his days in a zoo!

Übersiedlung des amerikanischen Bison Arturo von Cavrilia Park aus Italien
nach Deutschland auf den Erdlingshof

Nach 2 Jahren intensiver Arbeit und dank des Engagements vieler ehrenamtlicher
Helfer und der Organisation LEAL, schließt der Cavrilia Park (eine Art Wildpark/Zoo in Italien)
nun endlich seine Pforten. Alle Tiere haben neue, dauerhafte und artgerechte Unterkünfte
gefunden. Alle bis auf Arturo, ein amerikanischer Bison.

Cavriglia Park, längst in die Jahre gekommen, konnte schon viele Jahre lang keine
adequate Tierhaltung mehr bieten, und die längst nicht mehr zeitgemässen
Haltungsbedingungen waren dem Tierschutz schon lange ein Dorn im Auge. Die erstmalige
Schließung eines Wildpark/Zoos in Italien aus Tierschutzgründen war ein langer Weg und ist
bisher einmalig.

Einen Platz für Arturo zu finden war sehr schwer und langwierig. In Italien selbst
gab es keine Möglichkeiten ihn unterzubringen, und so musste ein Platz im Ausland
für Arturo gefunden werden. Der Erdlingshof (www.erdlingshof.de ein Gnadenhof für ehemalige Nutztiere
in Kollnburg, Deutschland, hat sich bereiterklärt Arturo zu übernehmen und auch alle anfallenden
Kosten für die Überführung zu tragen.

Leider hat sich jedoch der Bürgermeister von Cavriglia, Leonardo Degl'Innocenti O Sanni,
für eine Unterbringung von Arturo in einem Safari- bzw. Vergnügungspark in Ravenna entschieden
und bereits die Schritte für die Überführung Arturos eingeleitet. Das Risiko, das der Bison
danach an andere Wildparks oder Zoos weitergereicht wird, ist groß. Davon abgesehen ist
der Park aufgrund des touristisch genutzten Zwecks mit seiner Lärmbelästigung und seiner
Lage an einer viel befahrenen Straße absolut ungeeignet.

Wir möchten daher den Bürgermeister von Cavriglia bitten seine Entscheidung zu überdenken,
im Sinne von Arturo zu handeln, sich ein Herz zu fassen und ihm ein gutes, artgerechtes Leben
auf dem Erdlingshof in Deutschland zu ermöglichen.
