PAUL TO THE HALL!

“Henderson scores for Canada!” Foster Hewitt hysterically cheered from Russia, 51 years ago. Still the most dramatic goal in hockey history.

Paul Henderson turns 80 on January 28. We must let him know most Canadians think he should be a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.  

The time for discussing and debating is over. The selection committee should vote him into the Hockey Hall of Fame, while he is still with us. 

All Canadians celebrated his final 1972 goal with gusto.  Farmers and pharmacists. Professors and prisoners. Stay at home moms and students.  First Nations and first generations. Folks of every faith and every language. All Canadians!  

Canada had come back to win the Summit Series. Two cultures colliding. Paul had scored the winning goals in the last three games.  All in Moscow!

Back in 2012, a HHOF selection committee member said, “The Hall of Fame is for players who have done special things.  The goal Paul scored is the biggest goal in hockey history, so he should be in.”  Wayne Gretzky said, “It is asinine that Paul Henderson is not in the Hall of Fame.”

There are 294 former players in the H.H.O.F.  Many people just assume Paul is one of them.

Appointed to the Order of Canada. Member of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame.  The time has come…

It’s the Hockey Hall of Fame, not the N.H.L. Hall of Fame.  Having said that, Paul played in over 1, 000 N.H.L. and W.H.A. games, tallying 1,134 points.  A long and strong career.

This is a grassroots petition, started in Niagara-on-the-Lake by two people tangentially involved with hockey.
