Indiana University professor Eric Rasmusen has had some tweets surface that show his incredible bigotry to multiple groups of people. Indiana University says his views do not represent those of the University and the Kelley School of Business, however, they will not fire him. They claim that he is protected by the first amendment and thus his right to free speech. Unfortunately, they are correct, as the Supreme Court of the United States has ruled hate speech to be protected under the first amendment on many different occasions. If you sign this petition, it will make its way up to Michael McRobbie and the other higher ups at Indiana University, and it will incite change. Please help us as IU is supposed to be a safe place, “IU is Home”, but if they allow a racist, homophobic, and sexist professor to continue to teach here, how safe can it be? This is an issue for the entirety of campus, and for schools everywhere, we should not allow professors who are open with their hate speech to continue to work at this University.
