Save IU, Remove Professor Rasmusen Now

The Issue

Hoosier Alumna & Alumni:

This week, news reports revealed one of our University’s tenured professors, Eric Rasmusen, was found to have written and published online content denigrating people of color, women, and LGBTQ people – all while serving as a professor at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. What’s most alarming: Rasmusen refuses to apologize and stands by his beliefs.

Here are some of Rasmusen’s debunked ideas:

People of Color: believes black students are generally unqualified to attend elite institutions

Women: “Is 'slut' a slur against women? Not at all” […] “It is a slur against certain women”

LGBTQ People: "are generally promiscuous" and are more likely than heterosexuals to molest students

Rasmusen is certainly entitled to his convictions, but they do not and should not reflect the values of Indiana University. His words do not describe the inclusive, welcoming environment in Bloomington, Indiana, and what’s worse: Rasmusen is quickly becoming the face and brand of a university and about 700,000 alumni across the nation and world.

That’s why I’m asking you to take a stand for our school, our second home. Sign this petition here and call for the removal of Eric Rasmusen from Indiana University’s faculty. Then, share this petition with FIVE of your friends and neighbors.

One illogical, narrow-minded person should not define the IU brand.

Sincerely,

Drew Anderson
