Indiana Home/Business Energy Storage With or Without Solar Back Up Tax Credit Update 11/06/2026

Please forgive the delay in this update. We are still working on it and moving things forward. The big news is Erin and I talked with Rep. Carey Hamilton for IN - House District 87 in person a few weeks ago at a town hall. I handed Rep Hamilton hard copies of the proposal, the petition list (at the time 182 signatures, now 225), a list of Indiana solar companies and two examples of other states with similar tax credits. She informed me she is going to introduce the proposal. Rep Hamilton is a good person to have on our side. Basically, this means pitching an idea to get drafted and then hopefully introducing it on the floor to be voted on. We have another meeting scheduled with her on December 1st.

At the same town hall, I also talked with Ryan Kominakis for Indiana who just won his election for our state representative. I gave him copies of the information I gave Rep Hamilton. This is the second time I have talked with him about the proposal. He also showed interest. He has also shown interest in learning more about renewable energy.

I have also started a hard copy of the petition. It has been making the rounds Solar United Neighbors Indiana Co-op events here in Northwest Indiana.

These are all positive events. This should not be a political issue but, energy storage/solar power has become one. With this last election Indiana now has more elected officials who should support proposals like this one. We need to take advantage of this momentum. Please keep sharing this petition. Thank you to all who have signed, shared or donated funds to it. We currently have as of this update only 229 signatures. I would love to have 1,000 before our next meeting with Rep Hamilton. It gives us more leverage the more support we can show folks.
If you have any question, comments or suggestions please let me know.

Peace,
Joseph H Curtis
