Friends, Keith Cooper's case is featured in a front-page article of today's Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette. It begins by contrasting the Christian rhetoric Pence uses to pardon Donald Trump's sins to his inaction on a pardon for Keith Cooper. Some excerpts: "The man touting grace and forgiveness for running mate Donald Trump has been stingy granting that mercy to those seeking pardons in Indiana." And this: The issue has gained steam with Pence on the trail standing by Trump, who most recently talked about groping women and trying to have sex with a married woman. “I believe in grace and I believe in forgiveness,” Pence said this week at a North Carolina rally about Trump. Pence is also known for repeatedly saying while in office – “Indiana should be the worst place in America to commit a serious crime and the best place, once you’ve done your time, to get a second chance.” That makes his action – or inaction – on pardons confusing to many." Most of what the article says has been discussed in our updates elsewhere, but this article also has the best, clearest statement yet from one of Indiana's gubernatorial candidates, John Gregg: “I’d sign the pardon, absolutely. When a mistake’s been made you only compound it by not correcting it.” Unfortunately, "Republican candidate Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb told The Journal Gazette, “I would hope if elected governor, I could resolve it quickly” but did not elaborate." Eric Holcomb is not showing any political courage here. No leadership. No commitment to justice. So, since he won't publish a phone number for his campaign headquarters, please give the Indiana GOP headquarters a call today and there, call upon Holcomb to pledge to pardon Keith Cooper if he is elected. We shouldn't take waffling promises and No's for the answers. 317-635-7561 or email from this link: http://indiana.gop/contact. Thank you for you support. Jack Heller
