Friends, As I am writing this, the petition has crossed over 38,000 signatures. I expect that it will exceed 50,000 today. Thank you to everyone for your help. I have a few new strategies to suggest today. If you are willing to spend a few extra minutes helping, these can make a difference. 1) Today, let's contact the governor's office directly. There are two ways to do this. You may call his office at 317-232-4567. To make the call short, tell the person who answers the call that you are calling on behalf of Keith Cooper, whose recommendation for a pardon had been sent to Governor Pence in March 2014. Ask the person if the governor intends to sign his pardon. If so, when? If not, why not? And if the answer is that the pardon is still under consideration, ask why it would take 25 months to consider. Let the person know that you vote and that you expect the pardon to be signed. 2) You may also send an email. I am posting below a link to "Ask Mike." At the email box on the page is a dropbox for "Select Topic." Please select "Governor, Office of the." Then write your email to deliver your message regarding Keith Cooper's pardon. 3) John Gregg is running as the Democratic candidate to be Indiana's next governor. He cannot sign the pardon (yet), but he can make the pardon a campaign issue. Consider tweeting John Gregg, @GreggForGov, just to make him aware of the issue of Cooper's pardon quest. Send him a link to this petition. 4) Eric Holcomb is Pence's handpicked choice to succeed him as governor. Please let Holcomb know that this pardon is an election year issue, and as the Republican candidate for Indiana's governor, you expect him to #askPence about getting the pardon signed. Tweek Holcomb @HolcombForIN. I want to generally recommend firmness and civility. We want this cause to get good attention for a positive result, so threaten to vote for an opponent (I will), but please do not resort to verbal abuse or worse threats. The website linked below says, "Ask Mike." So today, let's Ask Mike!
