Install a stoplight at intersection of S 600 W and highway 30
Why this petition matters
My request is at the concern of the intersection of S 600 W and highway 30 in Hanna, Indiana. On February 26, 2007 my father, Richard Kimmel, got into a fatal crash and passed away at the intersection of S 600 W and highway 30. I would never want anyone to go through the experience that my family and I went through. I have done extensive research on crashes at this intersect. From May 22, 2016 to November 4, 2019 there has been a total of 59 personal injury crashes just on highway 30 in Laporte County. There has been a total of 5 personal injury crashes just on the intersection of S 600 W and highway 30 alone. There have been 154 personal damage crashes on highway 30 in Laporte County, and 9 of them occurred at S 600 W and highway 30. Another factor to this is that South Central Jr./Sr. High School is on S 600 W. This means many student drivers have to go across highway 30. Additionally, this being a business highway there are a lot of semis and larger vehicles passing at high speeds through this intersection. This is extremely dangerous because there no warning or anything of that matter to slow drivers down to warn them about this busy intersection. Concluding, there should be a stoplight or something to slow people down and realize there is a dangerous intersection coming up.
