WSBT-22 conducted an interview today with the HOA President of Bent Oak. I have attached the link below for your viewing pleasure. Also, please continue to share as much as possible as the request for the hearing will be submitted on Monday and we need all the support we can get. I find it fascinating that the Commissioner Mr. Yoder, spoke in an interview today stating we should have been part of the initial Planning and Development process (County Board Public Hearing) and that there is not much we can do! False! First, I along with many others had no idea the public hearing was scheduled and hear is why. I understand the hearing was published in the Goshen Newspaper and Middlebury Independent (two papers the county board of commissioners choose) however, the majority of the potentially affected residents reside in Elkhart City or Concord Township and more than likely wouldn't subscribe to an outside city's newspaper. When I asked the County P&D office about this, I was told that if I wasn't a subscriber that I would have to physically drive to the perspective county building in order view the scheduled hearings for the week. Obviously, one would have to drive there every week to obtain the updated schedule. I also found it interesting that Mr. Yoder stated they only took into account the Elkhart County Jail Complex and landfill when approving the proposal. Obviously! I don't know about you, but considering public safety officers are already subjected to hazardous conditions throughout their daily duties, I fail to see why they should be subjected to additional hazardous pollution. Also, if you truly believe in the judicial and incarceration process, the mere existence is to rehabilitate intimates to once again become productive members of society, their lives matter as well. So, with that said we are not done with our work and we will utilize all avenues with the first being IDEM. Please continue to sign and share along with emailing Luda Lang with your concerns and to request a public hearing at LLang@idem.IN.gov. Please let me know if you are able to assist or have any questions. You can email me directly at fightforwhatsright2019@gmail.com.
