Implement a TNVR Policy in Indian River County.

Implement a TNVR Policy in Indian River County.
The Issue
We want to implement a TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, and release) policy. The feral cats in our local community cause many issues for residents in all areas. The people in Indian River county have issues with releasing animals outside, with many reporting injuries from feral animals around the county, mostly cats getting into fights. With the TNVR policy we would be able to passively limit the population over time without euthanizing. In other areas of the U.S. similar strategies are being used and slowly limiting populations by the thousands. The estimated 53,000 cats in the area are slowly being trapped and killed in shelters due to limiting space. This is a cruel fate for these poor animals that we want to stop. By using a TNVR strategy we would be able to let cats live their lives and limit the population at the same time. Many in the community have already voiced their opinions about why this is a good strategy and has a high chance of working. There is also much neglect from officials, by using this petition we would be able to get their attention and inform them about how much of an issue this is. Overall this a safe, cost effective, and humane strategy to help the community with a problem we have had for years.
