Stop Indiscriminate Culling of Stray Dogs in Kerala
The Issue
Innocent dogs are being indiscriminately killed due to the fallacy propagated that all stray dogs are rabid and attack innocent people without being provoked. The truth is that stray dogs are often terrified of people and hide from us, if they are not friendly and trusting of humans. No culled dog has ever been necropsied to give a positive result for rabies so there is no evidence to support the theory that Kerala is culling rabid dogs. Neuter and release programs and rabies vaccination programs are claimed to have been adopted by Kerala but not seen implemented.
Innocent dogs are being inhumanely killed and hung on the streets in broad daylight, in full view of children, and it begs the question if this morbid environment that Kerala is creating is acceptable. The culture currently promoted in Kerala is one that is anti dogs and breeds an attitude of contempt and hatred for animals in general.
Mahatma Gandhi said "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged in the way its animals are treated"
Please do not let Mahatma Gandhi's legacy die with him. Help us save the innocent dogs of Kerala. Not every dog bites and not every dog is rabid. This is an extreme generalisation that is resulting in unethical and immoral genocide of dogs.
