President of India's 340 room Palace Residence should be converted to a hotel and museum
The Issue
In a country of 1.3 Billion people with one of the highest ratios of poor people, the Head of State of the country stays in a Palace that was meant for Imperial Rule of Viceroy of India (320 acre, 340 rooms). The kind of luxury and lifestyle associated with President (head of state) is out of sync with the realities of India. Such an accommodation should be monetized by the Govt. of India I have read that almost 300 crore rupees goes in the upkeep of this Mansion, which a country like India should not spend. It is a request to the Parliament of India to look within the soul of the republic (i.e. it is not a monarchy) and let go of this imperialistic palace and place the president into a more suitable accommodation reflecting true India & her aspirations of the future.
