Indian Farmers are sitting on the roads, in this cold weather, in poor conditions for over 2 months protesting calmly for only one thing and that is to withdraw the 3 farming laws that have been passed in September 2020. These contentious laws were passed by handful of ministers during the pendamic without any consultation with the farming communities. Read more on these laws here

Millions of farmers from all over India, are protesting, and all their pleads are falling on deaf ears. 

Instead of trying to listen and address the issue at hand, the government seems to be too busy trying to bad name the protesters. Indian media has been a disgrace for spreading fake news and calling these farmers separatists. 

Farmers need laws to help them grow, not laws that help already rich people to benefit more. They need reforms that protect them financially, and educate them on newer agricultural techniques. E.g. Punjab farmers need to move away from wheat and rice farming to stop further depletion of the water table. They need to be educated and given provisions to help them move to other farming options. #indianagricultureminister

International Indian communities have been financially and emotionally supporting these farmers from abroad, but that is not enough. Government of India needs to step in and withdraw the laws. They should work with farmers community to reform and address the agricultural issues, not just handful of ministers.

Are these laws more important than the lives, specially during this Covid Pandemic, when people all over the world are dieing, and the world economy is crippling?

What is the government waiting for? Number of deaths to rise? Why is the PM of the country sitting there doing nothing?

Why is the access to Internet being withdrawn? This is the only channel that helps Farmers to raise awareness when Indian Media is not helping them.

Why is Indian media spreading fake news? Why are they not showing the truth?

We, the international Indian community, would like to urge Indian government to withdraw the laws. If Indian government is not willing to do anything here, then we urge our world leaders to use any powers within their control to put pressure on Indian Government to withdraw these contentious laws. 

Urging the world leaders to do something now. Please don't let more innocent people die. There are many who have already died and injured badly, some due to the harsh weather and some directly at the hands of the police.
