Dehing Patkai also known as the amazon of east india is in danger of destruction and deforestation for two major goverment projects. 1.ETALIN HYDROPOWER 2.COAL MINING 

2,70,000 tress are to be cut for the project despite Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary being home to elephants, Malayan sun bears, marbled cats, clouded leopards, and various snakes, lizards, turtles and butterflies.

This will not only affect the region of construction of dam and minning area but 3 rivers crossing from the area in long term. 

Given all these projects were okayed during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, it’s worth asking whether such decisions were considered properly. “Meetings are held to discuss and take decisions on projects with experts being present,” Choudhury said. “Do you think such decisions are better taken through video-conferencing [conducted] in a hurry?”
