A fact omitted from mainstream Kashmir media is this. The United Nations Human Rights Commission has decided to commence remote investigations/monitoring of the Human rights violations in Kashmir. He said " This includes their failure to grant access to Kashmir on both sides of the Line of Control to verify the worrying developments that continue to be reported there. In the absence of such access, my Office is undertaking remote monitoring of the human rights situation in Kashmir on both sides of the Line of Control, with a view to making the findings public in the near future. " Please review this link http://www.ohchr.org/EN/NewsEvents/Pages/DisplayNews.aspx?NewsID=22041&LangID=E Their position has shifted from consideration of monitoring to actual investigations remotely. It is therefore important that Kashmir sends their evidence to http://www.ohchr.org/EN/HRBodies/HRC/ComplaintProcedure/Pages/HRCComplaintProcedureIndex.aspx. ( contact details below) Thank you to the youth of Kashmir and #TeamKashmir online for this movement at the UNHRC. The elite may say many things in Kashmir but it was only due to your consistent work in protesting on and offline that these results were obtained. Each event has been sent to the HRC by me. The best voices came out of the student protests and specifically from Mattan School. I know many of you have been banned by India but you achieved what you sought out to do. India has banned access to the UNHRC. The only option left is remote monitoring and you have all achieved this. Please do take time out to celebrate this progress much like you all celebrate Pakistan's cricket win. It's harder to get the UNHRC to move than it is to beat India on a cricket field. Trust me on this because I know how many sleepless nights it took all of us to move this iceberg one step forward. Take care and all the best to everyone in Kashmir. Carpe Diem. Next stop is Kashmir's Referendum on the banned hashtag #KashExit. Regards Dr Rita Pal www.kashmirhumanrights.com Follow me on Twitter https://mobile.twitter.com/dr_rita39
