India’s Daughters Campaign 2020: Calling on India's Sons to step up
The Issue
India’s Daughters Campaign 2020: Calling on India's Sons to step up
India has been declared one of the most dangerous countries for girls and women. Every 15 minutes, a rape is reported. 35% of women have experienced some form of domestic violence. 550,000 girls are selectively aborted each year. 15,509,000 child brides/girl slaves - one-third of the world’s total - are in India. India’s daughters are unsafe in the womb, at home, on the streets, and in the workplace.
Until now, women have been fighting this battle alone.
It’s time for boys to step up.
What can India’s sons - boys and men - do to make India safe for her daughters? How can they change the rape culture of India? How can they be the change they want to see?
During the India’s Daughters Campaign (IDC) 2020, Study Hall Educational Foundation is seeking a commitment from boys and girls, men and women…AND YOU.
Here’s what you can do to make a difference –
● STEP 1 – SHOW YOUR SUPPORT – Sign the petition to show your commitment to making India safe for her daughters, and encourage others to do the same.
● STEP 2 – JOIN THE MOVEMENT – Commit to making India safe for her daughters yourself by joining the campaign and urge boys and men to do the same. Visit and like our Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/IndiasDaughterCampaign/ - for the latest updates and to get involved.
● STEP 3 – MAKE YOUR VOICE MATTER – If you are a boy, what will you do to make India safe for her daughters? How will you change? If you are a girl, how would you like boys to change?
You can do this by making a small video or writing a letter. Send it to us at ceo@studyhallfoundation.org or share it on social media using hashtags: #shef #IDC2020 #MenAndBoysForGenderJustice #IndiasDaughtersCampaign #MakeIndiaSafe #TogetherWeCan
● STEP 4 – BE A CHANGEMAKER – Engage with boys and men in your network. Ask them what they can do to make India safe for her daughters. Encourage them to think about how they can change. Share stories of change on social media and include hashtags: #shef #IDC2020 #MenAndBoysForGenderJustice #IndiasDaughtersCampaign #MakeIndiaSafe #TogetherWeCan.
For our mothers, our sisters, our daughters, and all the girls and women in our lives, let’s forge a path to gender justice and a safer world. Together we can make a difference.
