Stop English Subtitles on English Movies in India

The Issue

12 Major Reasons —

1. English Subtitles on English Audio Movies treat Audience like Dumb People and forces them to stay Dumb. Audience will become used to watching English Language movies with English Subtitles and will never Learn to Understand English Language. They will always be at a Disadvantage and will Never be able to watch an English Movie without English Subtitles

2. It Spoils the Entire Experience of the Movie and is an Annoying Distraction as it keeps popping up diverting the attention of the Audience from what is happening in the Movie

3. It covers a significant amount of the screen blocking important facial expressions of Actors as well as Action Sequences

4. It is Bright White or Yellow Color with Horrible Fonts and Brightens the Screen even during a scene which was supposed to be Dark. Destroys the atmosphere of the Movie

5. It shows up even before a Dialogue is spoken, Kills the Suspense of the Movie and hence the overall impact

6. The Majority chunk of Audience which used to watch English Movies as a preference are affected by this nuisance and have either stopped watching English Movies in Theatres or reduced the number of Movies. In the Long Run, this will also cause become a Financial Impact on the Theatres and Studios

7. Even if anyone wants English Subtitles on English Movies, they can experience the Actual Movie the way it is intended to be delivered in the Theatres without any distractions and then watch the Blu-ray or DVD print with Subtitles on choice. The Other way around is Not Possible as a Theatre Experience is the Primary Experience for a Movie and if it is spoilt, no one will buy the Blu-ray as well.

8. Watching Movies is also a Social Experience, I and my Friends are no longer able to watch English Movies in Indian Theatres due to this annoyance

9. English Subtitles were added on English Language movies to mimic English Language TV Channels, A Theatre and a TV are way different, A Theatre is Superior to a TV and the two experiences should not be merged, A Theatre is supposed to deliver the content in its best possible manner. Spoiling the Delivery is as good as disrespecting the efforts of hundreds of people who worked hard in making the movie and invoking emotion in it

10. There was no Survey or Study or Feedback Mechanism in place to gather inputs from the people who actually used to see English Movies in the Theatres before making the decision of implementing Subtitles

11. Subtitles kill the effect of Cinematography and Lightning and hence the atmosphere a movie creates, in short, millions of dollars spent on getting the right look for each and every scene is just wasted

12. Hindi Subtitles on English Language Movie makes sense, English Subtitles on Japanese Language Movie makes sense, English Subtitles on South Indian Language Movie makes sense, English Subtitles on English Language Movie does not makes sense, it feels weird even to write it here or speak it out loud
